No. Every daily board is generated so the full solution is reachable through forced moves alone — if you're stuck, some row, column, or sign already determines a cell.

What do the = and × signs mean?

They constrain the two cells they sit between: = means the cells hold the same symbol, × means they hold different symbols.

How do I know if I've made a mistake?

Cells that break a rule — three in a row, too many of a symbol in a line, or a disagreeing sign — are highlighted immediately.
