Privacy
Last updated · July 2026
The short version: today, Detour collects almost nothing. You can play every game without an account. Here's the whole picture, including what changes when accounts and ads arrive.
What we store today
Your game results (streaks, times, wins) are saved in your browser's localStorage and never leave your device. We can't see them. Clearing your browser's site data resets them, and there's no way to get them back (we never had a copy).
Accounts (coming soon)
Optional accounts are planned so your stats can sync across devices. Signing up will always be a choice, never a requirement to play. When accounts launch:
Sign-in will be handled by Clerk, which processes the details you sign up with (such as your email address) on our behalf. See Clerk's privacy policy.
Your synced stats (streaks, results, best times) will be stored in a database hosted by Supabase, linked to your account and used only to show you your own progress. See Supabase's privacy policy. We'll never sell your data, and deleting your account will delete it.
Advertising (maybe, later)
There are no ads and no ad tracking today. If Detour grows, we may show ads to cover costs. Ad partners typically use cookies or similar identifiers; if we add them, this policy will be updated first and any consent the law requires will be asked for before anything loads.
What we don't do
No analytics, no tracking scripts, and no cookies set by us. We don't know who you are, and until you choose to make an account, we can't.
Third parties
Hosting: the site is served by our platform. Like any web host, its infrastructure processes standard request logs (things like your IP address and browser type) to deliver pages.
Fonts: our two typefaces load from Google Fonts, so your browser makes a request to Google's servers (which sees your IP address). See Google's privacy policy.
Coming with accounts: Clerk (sign-in) and Supabase (stat storage), as described above. Neither is loaded on the site today.
