Question 1

Can every board be solved without guessing?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before a board is shown, a solver that only makes forced moves has to finish it: filling a line that already has three of a symbol, blocking a third in a row, and following = and × markers. It never tries a symbol to see what happens. If that solver gets stuck, the board is thrown away.

Question 2

Does every board have one answer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A second, separate solver searches every possibility and confirms there is exactly one finished grid that fits the clues.

Question 3

What changes between Easy, Medium and Hard?

Accepted Answer

How many clues you start with. Easy has 10 to 12 symbols and 8 to 10 markers, Medium 7 to 9 symbols and 7 to 9 markers, Hard 4 to 6 symbols and 7 to 9 markers. The grid is always 6×6.

Question 4

How hard is the daily board?

Accepted Answer

It gets harder through the week: Easy on Monday and Tuesday, Medium from Wednesday to Friday, and Hard on Saturday and Sunday.

Question 5

What is a clean solve?

Accepted Answer

Finishing a board without using a hint.

Question 6

Is this the same as Takuzu or Binairo?

Accepted Answer

It's the same family. Takuzu and Binairo use 0s and 1s with the same two rules: equal counts in every line and never three in a row. Equinox uses suns and moons, and adds the = and × markers between cells as extra clues.

Question 7

Where are my streak and best times saved?

Accepted Answer

In your browser's localStorage: your daily streak and fastest daily solve, your fastest free play solve at each difficulty, and the difficulty you played last. They stay on your device. If you're logged in to a Detour account, your streak and best times are saved to your account too, and follow you to any device you log in on. The difficulty you played last stays with the browser.

Question 8

Can I play with a keyboard?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tab to the board, move with the arrow keys, press S for a sun and M for a moon (or Enter to cycle), and Backspace or Delete to empty a cell. U or Ctrl+Z undoes.
