Question 1

Why is my answer wrong when every line already has 1 to 7?

Accepted Answer

Many arrangements fill every line with 1 to 7, but only one is today's answer. Green, yellow and gray are always checked against that one board, and it's the one the sum markers are worked out from.

Question 2

How is the swap budget worked out?

Accepted Answer

A search finds the fewest swaps that turn today's starting board into the answer, taking into account that, say, any 5 can go to any cell that needs a 5. The budget is that number plus five.

Question 3

How does the streak work?

Accepted Answer

Solve the board on a day and that day counts, stars or no stars. Miss a day and the streak starts over.

Question 4

Where are my scores saved?

Accepted Answer

In your browser's localStorage: today's board, your daily streak, how many days you've solved and the most stars you've earned on a daily. They stay on your device. If you're logged in to a Detour account, your streak, days solved and most stars are saved to your account too, and follow you to any device you log in on, and a board you've solved today is solved on every device you log in on. A board still in progress stays in the browser you started it in. When you solve it, your star count is added to the day's anonymous totals for Today's players, with nothing that says it was yours.
