Question 1

Does every board have one answer?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before a board is used, a solver works from the numbers and shape icons alone, tries every way the patches could fit together, and keeps the board only if exactly one way covers the grid.

Question 2

Can I play again after I solve it?

Accepted Answer

No. Subdivision is one board a day. You can restart an unsolved board as often as you like, but once it's solved the result is locked in and the next board arrives at midnight, your time.

Question 3

What is a clean subdivide?

Accepted Answer

A solve without pressing Restart. Removing single patches and using hints don't count against it.

Question 4

What does a hint do?

Accepted Answer

It places one patch of the solution that you haven't placed yet. If patches of yours sit where it goes, they are wrong and it clears them. The results card notes how many you used, and that's all.

Question 5

Where are my streak and best time saved?

Accepted Answer

In your browser's localStorage: your daily streak, how many boards you've solved, your fastest solve and your count of clean solves. They never leave your device.

Question 6

Can I play with a keyboard?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Tab to the board and move with the arrow keys. Press Enter or Space on one corner, move to the opposite corner, and press Enter or Space again to place the patch. Escape cancels, and Delete or Backspace removes the patch under the cursor.
